ART EXPLORATION: KNITTING THE CULTURAL HERITAGE OF NUSANTARA
Batik Training
The Office of International Affairs, Cooperation, and Culture of Universitas Trisakti (KUIKK USAKTI) held the Batik Training event with the theme “ART EXPLORATION: KNITTING THE CULTURAL HERITAGE OF NUSANTARA” on Friday, October 13, 2023 to celebrate the National Batik Day. The event is at the KUIKK Office, Building E, Ground Floor, Campus A of Universitas Trisakti.
Attending the Batik Making Training are Dra. Agustin R. Lakawa, M.S., Ph.D. (Head of the Universitas Trisakti’s Culture Center), Dr. Sangayu Ketut Laksemi Nilotama, M.Ds. (Dean of FSRD Universitas Trisakti), Dra. Atridia Wilastrina, M.Ds. (Vice Dean II of FSRD Universitas Trisakti), Susy Irma Adisurya, S.Sn., M.Ds. (Vice Dean III of FSRD Universitas Trisakti), and Universitas Trisakti’s civitas academica.
Siti Ramlah, an Administrator of the Indonesian Textile Museum, led this Batik Training. She explained the procedures for making batik, including using a canting, forming patterns, and carrying out the coloring process.
This Batik Training activity was a collaboration of the Culture Center of KUIKK USAKTI and the Jakarta Textile Museum, with batik training using writing techniques as the main activity.
This activity is one of various KUIKK cultural programs to help preserve Indonesian culture by involving the academic community on the Usakti Campus.
Hopefully, this activity will provide enlightenment and broaden the perspective of the Usaktu academic community about this extraordinary Indonesian culture so that it can further increase self-confidence in introducing this intangible ancestral heritage.
