Activity Summary

The Office of International Affairs, Cooperation, and Culture (KUIKK) of Universitas Trisakti (USAKTI) attended the dissemination of the XII Indonesian Language Congress at Leisure Inn Arion, Rawamangun, Jakarta, on May 15, 2023, organized by the Language Development and Development Agency – Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. Different from the previous Congress, according to the Head of the Center for Development and Protection of Language and Literature, Drs. Imam Budi Utomo, M. Hum. This time, the Indonesian Language Congress will open advanced classes, namely Lexicography and Forensic Linguistics.

The XII Indonesian Language Congress carries the big theme of Literacy in Diversity for the progress of the nation with three sub-themes:

1. Revitalization of Regional Language and Literature;
2. Indonesian Language and Literature Literacy; and
3. Internationalization of the Indonesian Language Leading to Increasing Regional Language and Literature Literacy and Language and Literature Literacy.

The XII Indonesian Language Congress has various planned activities, namely speakers and participants, announcements of selected speakers and selected participants, linguistic and literary dissemination, virtual exhibitions, advanced classes, and conferences. The following are the stages of activities related to selected speakers and participants:

• Speaker Registration: January 16 – May 2, 2023
• Participant Registration: January 16 – July 2, 2023
• Announcement of Selected Speakers: June 2, 2023
• Announcement of Selected Participants: August 2, 2023

Prospective participants can apply for participation as KBI XII participants with the following conditions:

1. Prospective participants are experts, practitioners, observers, and language and literature lovers from within and outside the country. The event committee will select those people.
2. Prospective participants write essays related to the KBI XII subtheme with the following conditions.

• The manuscript is single-spaced on A4-sized paper with 12pt Times New Roman font and then copied into the essay column during registration.
• The essay contains strategies, ideas, innovations, or thoughts related to the KBI XII sub-theme.
• The number of words in the essay is between 400–500 words.

3. Prospective participants register online via the page http://kbi.kemdikbud.go.id on January 16–July 2, 2023.

The XII Indonesian Language Congress is to be held on 26-29 October 2023 at the Sultan Hotel with the following agenda:

3. Implementation of Advanced Classes
