Ethics, Morals and Socio-Cultural Transformation in the AI Era
The Office of International Affairs, Cooperation, and Culture (KUIKK) Universitas Trisakti (USAKTI) held a Seminar on “Ethics, Morals and Socio-Cultural Transformation in the AI Era” on November 16, 2023, at Building M, 12th floor, Campus A of USAKTI. The participants of this seminar are Prof. Dr. Ir. Kadarsah Suryadi, DEA (Rector of USAKTI), Prof. Dr. Drg. Tri Erri Astoeti, M. Kes. (Vice Rector IV of USAKTI), deans, students, lecturers, and the general public.
In his speech, the Rector of USAKTI said that the topics raised in this seminar were important in the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Along with the development of AI, Japan has entered the 5.0 society era, and the presence of AI has helped the elderly and disabled people in banking and health. Regarding the seminar theme, the Chancellor conveyed the importance of morals and ethics in this technology. Using the logic of the learning process in children, he revealed that experts must be careful in entering information and knowledge into AI because if the information entered is wrong, the user will also get false information. Therefore, morals must be the top priority in the use and development of AI.
Three speakers were experts in this field:
Alva Erwin, S.T., M.Sc. from the Captivate AI Study Center explained the Introduction of Captivate (Center for Artificial Intelligence and Advance Technology) USAKTI and the Development of AI in Indonesia.
Henke Yunkins, the Regulation and Ethics Director of IAIS, explained Ethics, Privacy, and Regulation in AI.
Eka Budianta, a well-known Indonesian writer and cultural figure, explained the Socio-Cultural Transformation in the AI Era.
The conclusion from this seminar is that AI is a revolutionary technology. Therefore, there needs to be ethical principles established so that people can utilize AI wisely. In this case, the government has also enforced the regulations regarding the development of AI in Indonesia, especially from an ethical perspective.
We hope this seminar can be a form of USAKTI’s contribution to supporting technological development in Indonesia. The hope is that it can also encourage the use and innovation of technology to improve human living standards well and wisely.
