To accelerate Universitas Trisakti’s internationalization process, KUIKK Usakti took the initiative to facilitate the Trisakti English Club (TEC) activities at the KUIKK Usakti’s Office on Wednesday, January 25, 2023. The members of TEC comprise Usakti leaders and lecturers. The program was officially launched by the Rector of Universitas Trisakti, Prof. Dr. Ir. Kadarsah Suryadi, DEA. He explained the importance of speaking English because Usakti is part of the global community. In addition, we have entered the digital era where English is increasingly needed. Hence with this TEC activity, participants can discuss anything in English. This event matches the Usakti community’s needs to gain knowledge and technology because one must be able to communicate globally to get these. Therefore, the ability to speak English is very vital to have.

Dra. Agustin R. Lakawa, M.S., Ph.D., the Head of KUIKK Culture Center, also explained the importance and benefit of this event. She said that this activity encourages participants, especially lecturers, to get used to speaking English. This activity will support lecturers to be more involved in research, learning processes, and other activities in an international scope.

The resource person at this event was Mr. Dennis Perez. He started the main session of this event with a vocabulary guessing game with the help of a mobile application. He explained that we must have a high interest in learning English. That way, it is easier to master it. He gave an example of people who like Japan will be more enthusiastic about learning Japanese. The key to learning English is to make the process fun. The material given in this first session was about small talk and public speaking.
